Day 16 – Antonio de la Gandara

Painter Antonio de la Gandara was born on 16 December 1861 in Paris, of Anglo-Spanish ancestry. He is remembered primarily as a portrait painter of the Belle Époque, but he also worked as an illustrator, among other activities. The lithograph below, a portrait of Liane de Pougy comes from a French website hosting a vast collection of La Gandara’s work.
