Comics for Japan

Darwin earthquake. Click this image to read the entry.

It’s been three weeks since the magnitude 9 earthquake struck, but the aftermath still presents huge problems for the people of Japan. As I write this the Fukushima nuclear plant is leaking radioactive water into the sea. Here are some of the ways the comics community is continuing to support Japan’s recovery.

Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who helped my own auction raise some money for Japanese Red Cross Society. I thought the scene from Darwin: A Graphic Biography which showed Charles contemplating the aftermath of the 1835 Concepción earthquake would be an appropriate page but I never expected the auction to get such a great response. In particular, people on Twitter were brilliant, including winning bidder @lofttroll, high bidder @iammikek and many others like @jontofski, @feltmistress and @lexrun who disseminated my frequent updates during the period of the auction, resulting in over 1600 page views. Thanks everyone.
